Banners are a versatile and affordable way to advertise your business! Knowing where and how to hang banners can help maximize brand awareness and bring in new customers. The first step is ensuring it is properly finished for where you will hang it. To do this, a couple of questions must be asked.
If you are planning on hanging your banner on a pole, it is best to utilize the pole pocket method with Banner Ups PoleTape. If the banner will be hung against a flat surface or between two objects, it is best to use Banner Ups adhesive grommet tabs.
This question determines the need for extra reinforcement. If the banner is hanging outdoors, it is best to hem the banner with Banner Ups PowerTape or MegaTape. We also recommend placing large adhesive grommet tabs every 2-3 feet. When extreme strength is needed, you can insert a metal grommet in the adhesive grommet tab and tape. If the banner is being hung indoors, extra reinforcements are not always necessary and small adhesive grommet tabs will work well.
This question also determines the need for extra reinforcement. With banners over 6 feet in width, it is recommended to use tabs in the corners and every 2-3 feet along the edges. If your banner is less than 6 feet in width and is being hung indoors, adhesive tabs in the corners will be just fine.
Bungee cords are great for hanging banners because they’re so simple to work with. Just hook the cord through the adhesive tab hole and you’re ready to go. Bungees will help keep your banner taught. Also, they provide flex and stretch in windy conditions so your banner can stay up longer.
Cable ties or zip ties are efficient and cost-effective. These are primarily used when attaching a banner to a fence. To secure your banner, start by inserting one end of a zip tie through a grommet and then through an anchor point, like a fence or a metal ring. Next, fasten the two ends of the zip tie tightly together. For optimal stability, it’s generally recommended to repeat this process for all four corners of the banner. It is important to note to not pull the tie too tight so that it is cutting into the tab.
Using nylon rope is one of the most common ways to hang a banner. Going through the tab’s center hole with the rope will give your banner the most strength. Make sure you tie the rope to something stable so the banner doesn’t blow down. We even had Banner Ups customers say that after a storm their banner didn’t rip down but rather bent the poles it was tied to. Now that’s some strength!
Another way to hang your banner is by threading metal carabiners or clips through the grommets located at each end of the banner and then attaching them to sturdy fixtures. This method is particularly suitable for displaying banners on chain-link fences.
You can also wrap a bungee around the top corner and attach it to the grommet hole, then slide your hands to the other side of the banner and repeat the process for the other top corner. Finally, repeat this step for the bottom corners to secure the banner in place. By following these steps, you can quickly and easily hang your vinyl banner using a bungee and grommets.
When it comes to displaying small, lightweight banners on a wall or window, suction cups are the most effective option. To do this, start by positioning the grommet of your banner over the hook on the suction cup. Ensure that the banner is smooth and free of any wrinkles before you secure the other side to a second suction cup and hook.
For lightweight banners that you want to display on a flat surface like a wall, using two-part Velcro is an excellent option. To do this, one strip of Velcro should be affixed to the wall and the other to the back of the banner. This method is particularly convenient if you need to change banners frequently.
When it comes to keeping a banner securely in place on a metal surface, powerful magnets can be used. However, it’s important to note that certain magnets may damage the banner material, potentially detracting from its overall visual appeal.
Adhesive grommet tabs are small plastic tabs with grommets that can be attached to a banner without the need for sewing or punching holes, which is perfect for banners without grommets. To install them, simply peel off the backing and stick the tab onto the back of the banner, then fold the tab over the front of the banner and press the grommet together. Once the adhesive has been set, the banner can be hung from the grommets using hooks or string.
