What surfaces does EZ Mount bond to?

EZ Mount’s pressure-sensitive adhesive bonds to most smooth, clean, dry surfaces including painted drywall, glass, metal, acrylic, and most plastics. For best results, clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol before application and apply firm pressure for 30 seconds. Avoid porous, textured, or dirty surfaces — these reduce adhesive contact area and holding strength.

How strong is the hold compared to Velcro?

3M™ Dual Lock™ provides significantly stronger hold than standard hook-and-loop (Velcro) fasteners. The mushroom-shaped interlocking heads lock together under compression rather than relying on fiber engagement, which provides a more rigid, vibration-resistant connection. This makes EZ Mount suitable for professional sign applications where Velcro would be too weak or too prone to accidental separation.

Can EZ Mount be repositioned without losing its hold?

Yes — the Dual Lock fastener strips themselves can be opened and reattached many times without losing hold strength. The adhesive backing that bonds the strips to the sign and surface is the permanent bond — once the strip is pressed to a surface and fully cured, do not reposition it. But the Dual Lock interlocking connection between the two strips can be separated and reconnected as many times as needed.

How do I remove EZ Mount cleanly from a wall?

To remove the adhesive strip from a wall surface, slowly peel at a low angle (parallel to the wall) to minimize paint or finish damage. For added safety on painted drywall, warm the strip with a hair dryer for 30 seconds before peeling — this softens the adhesive and reduces the chance of pulling paint. Any residual adhesive can be removed with isopropyl alcohol or Goo Gone.

Can I cut EZ Mount to a custom size?

Yes — EZ Mount is perforated every inch for hand-tearable convenience, but it can also be cut with scissors to any length between perforations. For non-standard sign sizes or corner placements, simply cut the strip to the exact length needed. The Dual Lock fastener works the same regardless of strip length — both matching strips just need to be the same length for even hold.
